I can't be the only person looking to leave Twitter post Elton, and I have fond memories of LiveJournal getting so much right, before the allure of microblogging ended up killing both my blogging and my journalling.
I don't know if DreamWidth will grab much of the fallout from Twitter, but there are definitely worse places on the net.
